This material should be kept frozen at 0°F (-18°C). Good industry standard handling practices for epoxy prepregs dictate that it should be kept sealed in a polythene bag, which is typically opened once fully thawed to room temperature. If the material is not fully used, then the material must be resealed in the polythene bag to prevent moisture absorption.
This material contains epoxy resin which can cause allergic reactions with skin contact and must avoid repeated and prolonged skin contact.
Please refer to the product Safety Data Sheet before using this material. The following precautions must be taken when using epoxy resin prepregs:
Overalls must be worn
Impervious gloves must be worn
Curing schedule is meant to be as a guide only and is subject to local conditions
To avoid exotherm, particular care must be taken with thick laminates
Ramp rates must not exceed 5.4°F (3.0°C) /min during initial cure in autoclave and oven processes, and 0.5°F (0.3°C) /min during free standing post cure
Fill in this short contact form and a member of staff will be in touch as soon as possible.
MTC581 is designed for press moulding and offers controlled resin flow for more consistent results. It is well suited to automotive, motorsport, aerospace and sporting goods where strong, repeatable composite parts are needed.
Yes. MTC581 has excellent tack and drape, helping it stick during lay-up and follow curved or detailed shapes more easily. This can make it easier to produce complex composite parts.
Yes. Although MTC581 is optimised for press moulding, it also performs well with oven and autoclave processing, giving manufacturers more flexibility in how parts are produced.
MTC581 is a highly toughened, damage-tolerant prepreg designed for demanding components. This makes it a strong option for parts where durability and resistance to knocks, loads or repeated use are important.
Yes. Snap-curing versions of MTC581 are available for projects where shorter production cycles are needed. This can make it a useful option for higher-volume manufacturing where speed and consistency are important.
