'Sustainability Showcase Car' Collaboration Highlight: Lineat

The best innovation happens with collaboration, which we demonstrate with the KS Composites 'Sustainability Showcase Car' on display at JEC, Paris, in two weeks. One of these collaborations is with Lineat Composites using their highly aligned recycled carbon fibre UD tape made with their AFFT™ technology.

Lineat is producing one of world’s strongest recycled material by taking chopped carbon fibre waste, and re-aligning the fibres into a new highly aligned fibre tape that mimics the original continuous fibre architecture to create a highly technical material with unique forming characteristics.

SHD and Lineat won the 2024 Composites UK - Trade Association ‘Innovation in Composite Materials’ award for the collaborative effort to bring advanced aligned recycled carbon fibre prepreg materials to the composite market. Both companies are raising the bar for sustainable composites aiming for maximum performance with minimal carbon footprint. Since signing a Heads of Terms in 2023, we have combined our expertise and capabilities in an innovative and flexible solution for manufacturing recycled aligned carbon fibre prepreg tape. This joint effort opens up a new route for recycled carbon fibres to deliver optimised, lightweight solutions to meet challenging performance targets whilst supporting the growing cry for increased sustainability, material circularity and efficiency across all sectors of the composite market.
