Overview
As the Western Region Sales Manager, you will lead customer engagement efforts with motorsport, automotive, and aerospace customers, serving as a key technical liaison between engineering teams and end users. You will identify and define customer requirements, develop sales strategies, forecast demand, and drive the sales cycle from lead generation to contract close. Your composite materials expertise and market insight will directly shape our product development and market expansion strategy.
Ideal Person
Either a proven sales professional or a person with an element of composite knowledge with a willingness to learn. With tenacity, to develop into a sales role, the individual will identify and execute a strategic sales model in line with the company objectives and will modify the plan in a dynamic market while ensuring the identified goals are met or exceeded. A clear understanding of the importance of relationships and relationship management is key. The ability to confidently represent SHD, at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
Expected to travel to customer locations >50%.
Developing Tactical commercial plans, in conjunction with leadership.
Sales Growth through professional communication with existing and potential customers.
Manage and interpret customers’ requirements – speaking with customers to understand, anticipate and meet their needs.
Follow up and close out on new leads in a timely manner.
Opportunities to develop with customers a sustainable growth mindset.
Communication with SHD wider team dealing with problem solving and adaptability
Implementation and reporting of customers concerns and suggestions, being part of a team to action, alleviate and prevent re-occurrence.
Working in accordance with Company Quality and Health & Safety procedures at all times
Prepare and deliver presentations to customers and the team.
Attend Trade Shows, conferences and other marketing events as and when required.
Maintain awareness of pertinent customer’s information, forecasts, payment performance and communicate any information that may affect company decisions to the appropriate personal.
Research of market data and requirements.
Keep up to date with typical industry market pricing
Monthly reporting of activity, sales, quotes and leads
To be willing to undertake and other duties from time to time as can be reasonable requested by the company.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years in sales, business development, or customer-facing roles within the composite or advanced materials industry.
Technical Background:
Strong understanding of carbon fiber composites, prepregs, and adhesives
Bachelor’s degree in business or a technical field (engineering or material science)
Industry Knowledge:
Familiarity with acquisition processes, aerospace development cycles, and key industry players.
Experience working with customers in aerospace, automotive, motorsport, or industrial.
NOTE - Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
Other Desirable Qualifications:
Established network of industry contacts.
Experience working in a startup or early-stage environment.
Experience with CRM systems (e.g. Salesforce, Airtable, Hubspot)
