Group Export & Trade Compliance Manager

Work Times: 8:30am to 4:30pm (Monday to Friday). A degree of flexibility will be needed at peak periods. 

Person Specification

In this key role, you will provide guidance and management oversight to assure adherence to direct export control regulations for SHD sales across the group and indirect export compliance requirements imposed on the Group by our suppliers ensuring that the Group is completely legally and regulatorily compliant. As such this role will require great attention to detail and the ability to work across and with various company functions with authority. SHD is renowned for its agility and speed of customer service, so the role will also suit somebody who relishes working in a very dynamic/fast moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working in accordance with Company Quality and Health & Safety procedures at all times

  • To act as lead officer for Export Control Licensing compliance.

  • To overview and ensure full export compliance with the requirements of the Group’s suppliers.

  • To complete ongoing monitoring and auditing of export licence practice and submit reports to Directors.

  • To advise Directors on policy and procedure relating to export and trade compliance.

  • Support early review of inbound materials for R&D efforts and coordinate with procurement on sourcing of key raw materials where appropriate and regulated. 

  • Support some level of supplier audit and qualification as we must ensure suppliers are not sourcing from bad actors, child labour, etc.

  • To liaise with SHD staff on wider exporting matters, including compliance with HMRC requirements.

  • Undertake any other duties from time to time as can be reasonably requested by the company.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Understanding of international trade compliance regulations including UK Dual Use controls, US EAR and ITAR and EU 2021/821 would be beneficial

  • Ability to research and self-educate in new or unfamiliar areas of global trade compliance needs
