Work Times: 8:00am to 4:00pm (Monday to Friday). A degree of flexibility will be needed at peak periods.
We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Engineer with strong electrical expertise and solid mechanical capability to support our manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will deliver preventative, reactive, and continuous‑improvement maintenance across plant equipment, facilities, and critical production machinery.
This role is electrically biased, and ideal for a multi‑skilled engineer who enjoys hands‑on problem solving, minimising downtime, and supporting a growing, technology-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance (Primary Focus – 70%)
Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production equipment, control systems, and site infrastructure.
Maintain and troubleshoot PLC‑controlled machinery, sensors, drives, motors, and associated power/control systems.
Perform electrical testing, inspection, and compliance checks (e.g., PAT, fixed wiring, safety circuits).
Ensure all electrical work meets regulatory standards and site policies
General building maintenance and installation
Mechanical Maintenance (30%)
Carry out mechanical fault finding and repairs on motors, pumps, ovens, and processing machinery.
Undertake mechanical assembly, alignment, bearing changes, pneumatics work, and general engineering tasks.
Support planned mechanical maintenance routines and continuous improvement projects.
Preventative & Reactive Work
Deliver a balanced mix of PPM, breakdown response, and reliability improvements.
Maintain accurate records using CMMS or internal maintenance systems.
Work proactively to reduce downtime and improve production efficiency.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Always Work safely, following company procedures, risk assessments, and legislative requirements.
Participate in inspections and safety improvement initiatives.
Support root cause analysis for equipment failures and recurring issues.
Teamwork & Communication
Collaborate closely with Production, HSE, Quality, and Engineering teams.
Provide technical support and guidance to operators and colleagues.
Support training or documentation as required.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
Strong electrical maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or process environment.
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Multi‑Skilled Maintenance with electrical bias.
Competent with PLC‑based equipment (fault finding level).
Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
Mechanical skills, including fault finding, basic fitting, pneumatics, and mechanical repairs.
Experience working with PPM systems and maintenance reporting.
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.
Desirable
18th Edition (BS 7671) qualification.
Experience in composites, chemicals, food, aerospace, or similar high‑integrity manufacturing.
Knowledge of thermal processing equipment (ovens, freezers, chillers).
