Overview

As the Global Purchasing Manager for SHD and Cambium Composites, you will be responsible for leading international sourcing strategies, managing end-to-end procurement, supplier relationships, and cost-reduction initiatives across multiple regions to ensure excellence in supply chain management for a rapidly growing materials business. This role is an active role, you will also be directly involved in purchasing and inventory daily activities across multiple sites in a high growth environment.

Ideal Person

The ideal candidate for this position will be a strategic thinker, a highly organized planner, and a strong leader who is able to lead a team and work in a fast flexible growth environment. Core capabilities would include supply chain management, supplier relationships, product introductions, supplier qualifications, inventory planning, and long range pricing contracts. Ideally, they will also have experience in logistics to manage the full end to end supply cycle, ITAR compliance, aerospace quality systems, import/export regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate current suppliers with a view to strategic development across businesses

  • Ensure supply chain risk mitigation at all times through supplier development and buffer inventory arrangements

  • Manage suppliers to develop enhanced long-term partnerships, monitoring quality, performance, price and compliance.

  • Identify new local suppliers where appropriate, working with Quality function to achieve supply approvals, to achieve best cost base while maintaining quality, technical standard and service

  • Negotiate best terms, pricing and supply agreements to minimize materials and services cost base for the business

  • Analyse global market trends to ensure optimal pricing and supply chain resilience

  • Monitor and report on market factors and report on price trends. Develop strategy to mitigate cost risks

  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to align procurement activity with demand, manage inventory levels whilst driving cost-saving initiatives.

  • Maximise benefit of Consigned inventory where appropriate

  • Develop, implement, and lead global procurement strategies that align with company objectives, focusing on cost efficiency and sustainability.

  • Lead and mentor purchasing staff, driving performance in a fast-paced environment.

  • Manage logistics supplier engagements and shipping rates for the businesses in the Group.

  • Manage large capex procurement activity as needed, ensuring best price and terms.

  • Oversee inventory levels and cycle counting activity to ensure accuracy of inventory usage.

  • To undertake and perform other duties from time to time as can be requested by the company.

Qualifications

  • Degreed in Supply Chain or Engineering or related discipline

  • Knowledge of the composite materials industry required

  • 8+ years in procurement or supply chain management around aerospace materials

  • Experience in international sourcing of materials or composites

  • Experience in global logistics, customs regulations and compliance

  • Experience in a high growth environment

  • Experience with high asset led businesses

  • Must be able to work independently, self-directed and as part of a team.

  • Must be willing to travel both nationally and occasionally internationally

  • Must have strong presentation skills

Work Environment/Essential Physical Demands

  • Must be able to work weekends and overtime if required.

  • Must be able to use hands and fingers for fine manipulation and keyboarding as needed.

  • Ability to bend, lift, push and pull (up to 25 lbs).

  • Must be able to follow all safety and company policies and procedures.

  • Must be able to wear all required PPE.

  • Must be able to work in a typical manufacturing environment on concrete floors as well as typical office environment.

  • Must be able to work long hours at a computer.
