Business Development Manager - Europe

The purpose of this role is to drive sustainable financial growth for SHD across Europe, with a particular focus on Germany and Eastern Europe, through pro-active support of existing customers, developing new opportunities and liaising effectively with SHD manufacturing sites.

Person Specification

In this role, you will be selling and supporting the products and services that SHD customers have grown to rely on. You will need a thorough understanding of advanced composites prepreg technology and several successful years’ experience in either senior commercial or technical service roles.

Pro-active and self-disciplined, the ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills for working both within SHD businesses and with customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving business growth through strong technical knowledge, sales experience and ambition for both SHD and its customers

  • Maintaining a strong and growing strategic key European customer accounts base through effective and pro-active account management.

  • Generating significant new business leads and supporting SHD’s continuing growth within a chosen European territory or market sector,

  • Liaise with sales administration, purchasing and relevant departments where necessary to ensure effective and efficient support of customers.

  • Working closely with SHD technical department on product and application development at customers

  • Working to and reporting against budgets, targets and objectives as defined by SHD Commercial Director.

  • Attending trade shows, networking events as an exhibitor for SHD, or visitor for prospecting.

  • Work in accordance with the Company Quality and Health and Safety procedures at all times.

  • To undertake and other duties from time to time as can be reasonable requested by the company

Skills and Ability

  • Knowledge of advanced composite prepreg materials manufacture and application

  • Experience and strong track record in sales growth across multiple market sectors

  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills

  • Commercial awareness

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • High degree of computer literacy
